Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$64.955 - $83.813 - $102.671

What You Will Do
The Spine Program Manager at Sharp HealthCare is a critical role responsible for the oversight and enhancement of spine services across regional campuses. This role aims to revolutionize spine care and patient management, focusing on increasing patient referrals, obtaining Joint Commission certification, and improving patient outcomes. The Spine Program Manager will lead cross-departmental collaboration, promote a culture of teamwork, and implement evidence-based practices to set new benchmarks for success. Community outreach and relationship building with patients, families, and healthcare providers are key to establishing a robust referral network and positioning the program as a leader in spine health. The Spine Program Manager is a transformative figure in spine care, driving growth and excellence in patient care.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • 5 Years Acute care experience in care of the patient undergoing spine surgery.
  • California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing -REQUIRED


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Healthcare or business.
  • 2 Years Management / leadership experience.
  • 2 Years Service Line or Program Manager experience.


Essential Functions

  • Teamwork and Collaboration
    Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team including nurses, physical therapists, physicians, case managers, and other staff to identify appropriate solutions for patients and staff.
    Serves as an expert, resource and liaison for patients, providers, and staff.
    Promotes team effectiveness by fostering collaboration, communication, and cooperation.
    Develop/foster peer relationships that promote efficient integrated departmental operations.
    Collaborates with marketing to promote the hospital Spine Program as well as new programs and services.
    Collaborates with marketing and business development to promote the hospital Spine Program as well as new programs and services.

  • Care Redesign for Optimal Outcomes
    Seek to improve systems and drive processes that improve patient outcomes and staff performance.
    Research and implement evidence-based guidelines and national standards of care.
    Coordinates compliance with the Joint Commission Disease Management Certification requirements for the Spine Program. Ensures the integrity of the Joint Commission database, American Spine Registry and other identified registries.
    Identifies and confronts issues which affect quality of service; collaborates with physicians, administration, medical groups, and staff to resolve these issues are current and maintained to meet the Joint Commission and regulatory requirements
    Leads timely performance improvement initiatives to achieve optimal patient safety, quality, and service outcomes.
    Identifies ideas and insights into clinical improvements to generate new business or improved services for service lines..
    Maintains ongoing analysis of service line performance and monitors trends and opportunities. Initiates and recommends service and quality improvements to meet changing market needs.
    Generates ideas and insights into marketing opportunities for service line.
    Incorporates knowledge of external factors and healthcare policies, which affect reimbursement for services.
    Assures awareness of local, state, and national standards that affect programs/service line and/or departments. Monitors evidence-based literature to ensure program Clinical Practice Guidelines and Clinical Pathways reflect current standards and practices.
  • Facilitator of Learning

    Responsible for the patient and caregiver education programs which include the development, revision and implementation of patient education materials, videos, and classes specific to Spine care.
    Develops and presents educational programs to promote Sharp HealthCare, including educational symposiums, and physician-lead in-services.
    Participates in internal and external activities that expand knowledge, such as attendance at educational forums related to the service line.
  • Communication
    Promotes system focus in quality monitoring
    Collaborates on a routine basis with specialty service line providers at all Sharp HealthCare facilities.
    Facilitates information sharing and project coordination where appropriate between facilities.
    Develops collaborative relationships with spine program staff and other orthopedic and neuro specialists, departments, hospitals, healthcare committees, physicians, and other agencies to facilitate and support quality services and financial viability at Sharp HealthCare.
    Establishes and maintains a communication system providing or supporting service line and program development.
    Uses communication strategies with individuals and groups that result in achievement of intended outcomes.
  • Community
    Contributes to Sharp HealthCare’s organizational mission, vision, and values by understanding the needs of the community and increasing the effectiveness of Sharp HealthCare meeting those needs.
    Demonstrate a commitment to serving other employees through teamwork, collaboration, and development of others.
    Serves as liaison between the community we serve and the various orthopedic teams across the care continuum.
  • Leadership
    Serves as a positive role model to promote employee empowerment, effective leadership, communication, and pro-active problem solving.
    Provides ongoing consultation to the team and to other staff regarding patient care issues and needs.
    Establishes regularly scheduled meetings with the team to review program initiatives, data, and other items pertinent to program growth and development.
    Actively participates in strategic planning process.
    Actively participates in departmental task forces.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience in neurosurgery, and the ability to manage multiple groups, interact productively with varying levels of personnel and staff; provide program direction and development.
  • Excellent communication and management skills. Ability to produce and utilize clinical, quality and financial data for project tracking and outcomes acheivement.
  • Flexibility to deal with and manage change. Technical knowledge of spine surgery services.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer skills, information management and data analysis. Understands and is able to articulate the principle of disease management and case management needs.
