Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$53.220 - $68.670 - $84.121


The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.



What You Will Do
Responsible for the work schedules, assign duties, coordinate and supervise staff. Assist with the interview process for new applicants, draft policies and procedures for the department, develop training tools, provide performance appraisals and assist with coaching and counseling for improved performance. Responsible for inventory, equipment, and assistance with fiscal budget projections. Maintains billing and CPT codes in IDXRAD system.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of RT and or CVT program.
  • 3 Years Clinical experience in all areas of invasive Cardiology, including IABP Insertion, pacemaker insertion and EP studies.
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED


Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association -PREFERRED
  • Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International -PREFERRED
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) - CA Department of Public Health -PREFERRED

  • Daily operations
    Independently identifies problems and takes appropriate actions in order to improve departmental operations and/or quality of care which is implemented.
    Participation in departmental task force or Committee.
    Maintains and updates staff competencies with the Assistance of the Manager of Cardiac Services. Updates competencies as needed.
    Submit a written recommendation for cost containment which is implemented each Fiscal Year.
    Provide input regarding department strategic plan.
    Arrange monthly educational programs with Interventional Cardiology which will assist with keeping staff current with research and techniques.
    Works in conjunction with the staff in performing daily patient rounds or ensuring that rounds have been completed and documented in the patient rounding log.
    Implements Team Coordination training for the Cath Lab.
  • Diagnostic and interventional cardiology studies
    Scheduled to work as staff for two (2) shifts per weeks or as needed based on department patient care needs.
    Scheduled On-Call every third weekend and as needed.
    Ensures a safe patient care environment.
    Assists with procedures by anticipating the needs of the patient and Cardiologist.
    Processes and post process imaging data to assist Physician in diagnosis.
    Assist the RT with monitoring safe use of X-Ray equipment and document lapsed fluoroscopy times.
    Competent monitoring and recording of hemodynamic functions and recognizing arrhythmias and initiating the proper standard of care.
    Accurately record patient data and billing information.
    Initiates proper responses to emergent situations.
    Demonstrates competency in the management of sheath removal and puncture site.
  • Financial management
    Monitors inventory and supplies on an onging basis. Maintains par level inventory spread sheet.
    Monitors equipment maintenance and repair and preventative maintenance schedule.
    Ensures that all equipment is functioning correctly and in good state of repair.
    Ensures that facility/department is clean and in good state of repair.
    Provides input into operational and capital budget.
    Reviews all financial and statistical reports with Manager.
    Provides input into facility planning and program development.
    Provides Manager with statistical reports for number of procedures completed in the Cath Lab at the end of each month.
    Maintains productivity >100%. Flexes staff when indicated to maintain productivity >100% per pay period.
    Reports product problems according to SHC policies.
    Monitors all credits that are due on all inventory and ensures the lowest possible pricing, working in conjunction with Sharp HealthCare Materials Management.
  • Human resource management
    Plans, organizes and delegates procedures and responsibilities in a manner which optimizes efficient and quality patient care.
    Completes work schedule (in accordance to One-Staff Scheduling System), job assignments and adjusts staffing according to volume and budgetary guidelines. Plans, organizes and relieves staff within the Cath Lab for all breaks and lunches.
    Coordinates and supervises all activities performed by the staff including clerical, technical, archiving and billing.
    Maintains updated charges at all times for peripheral, diagnostic and invasive Cardiology procedures.
    Mentors all staff on how to properly charge on all patient accounts.
    Checks patient charges for accuracy and works in conjunction with the finance department to remedy all late charges or corrections to all patient accounts.
    Participates in performance appraisal process for staff, in conjunction with the Manager of Cardiac Services.
    Provides coaching, counseling, and implements disciplinary action in conjunction with the Manager of Cardiac Services following SHC Human Resources Policies and Procedures.
    Co-chairs monthly staff meetings and coordinates continuing education and safety in-services.
    Monitors quality control in accordance to Title 22 and assists the RT in monitoring radiation safety.
  • Meeting participation
    Attends all mandatory in-services and monthly staff meetings.
    Ensures that staff that did not attend the monthly staff meetings read and sign staff meeting minutes.
    Updates staff on mandatory in-services.
  • Radiation safety
    Wears protective clothing and remains behind protective enclosure during exposure and wears film badge above the collar.
    Monitors that the Cath Lab Staff, and Physician groups are turning in their film badges on a quarterly basis for evaluation and follows-up on cumulative radiologic exposure evaluation results.
  • Safety
    Reports all staff, Physician or patient injuries to the Manager of Cardiac Services within 24 hours of injury. Ensures that all the paperwork is properly completed and faxed to the appropriate department. Ensures that all injured staff, Physicians and patients receive the appropriate medical care.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of JCAHO, Title 17 and Title 22 requirements.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic and interventional Cardiology procedures, including EP studies, Thrombolysis and Pacemakers.
  • Ability to assist with all Cath Lab procedures and or accurately document in the DMS System during the procedure.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to keep accurate, neat and concise records.
  • Ability to spend 100% of the time standing, walking, sitting, bending and reaching.
  • Must be able to stand with lead apron during procedures.
  • Ability to courteously accommodate unsatisfied customer (i.e. Physicians, hospital personnel, visitors, vendors, etc.).
  • Ability to use computer keyboard-manual dexterity.
  • Excellent visual acuity.
  • Ability to meet all deadlines.
  • Ability to calmly handle 50-100 telephone calls or personal contacts daily.
  • Ability to interface with multiple departments and work closely with the Manager of Cardiac Services and the Medical Director of the Cath Lab.
