$71.450 - $92.194 - $112.938The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
What You Will Do
Under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist, Physicist, or Manager, perform those duties directly involved with a variety of procedures, and prescribed treatment plans on radiation oncology patients.
Required Qualifications
- 1 Year Experience in radiation therapy treatment planning
- Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) - Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board -REQUIRED
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree B.S., B.A. degree preferred with eligibility to take CMD exam, or OJT (may also be Certified Medical Dosimetrist)
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -PREFERRED
Essential Functions
- Patient care

Interprets Radiation Oncologist's orders and generates prescribed treatment plan by means of computer and/or manual computation.
Maintains pre-treatment and treatment planning records as required in paper chart form and IMPAC.
Operates simulator/mold and treatment equipment if needed.
Assist in preparation of weekly planning meeting.
Assist MD with treatment simulation, body contouring and use of immobilization molds.
Assist physicist with treatment planning, brachytherapy, prostate implants and other procedures.
Physicians orders are correctly interpreted 90-95% of the time. Based on problems identified by physicist, therapist, or radiation oncologist.
Reviewed annually for proficiency in treating adult and geriatric and pediatric cancer patients through the use of learning modules. - Professional development
Attends department meetings and in-services as required and participates in a pro-active manner.
Ensures competence by participating in Continuing Education programs or SCVMC supported events concerning radiation therapy or dosimetry, to include (1) seminar related to this modality.
Participates in at least 1 CQI project per year. - Teamwork

Initiate supplies/charges on billing documents in IMPAC.
Assist in maintenance of inventory in physics/dosimetry area.
Assist in continuous quality improvement.
Report equipment failure to manager.
Coordinates treatment planning simulations and tumor localization using CT, MRI and Ximatron.
Maintains cleanliness of work area.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of radiation therapy and medical dosimetry.
- Ability to keep neat, accurate records.
- Ability to follow physician's and physicist's orders.
- Effective interpersonal and patient contact skills.
- Ability to work without supervision.
