Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center recently received the coveted Magnet^® designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This honor is a testament to the incredible talents of our nursing staff, as well as the team members they collaborate with every day.

Sharp Chula Vista is one of only 562 Magnet-recognized hospitals worldwide.

Our Magnet designation is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication, elevating The Sharp Experience and redefining patient care. As part of the application process, our nurses shared numerous examples of exceptional medical care and we received 11 honors — a new record for Sharp HealthCare. Here is just one of the extraordinary highlights:

International COVID-19 Support Team

In response to a call for support during the COVID-19 crisis, Sharp Chula Vista nurse leaders collaborated with community colleagues to design and implement an education rollout plan for the nurses of Tijuana General Hospital as well as Del Hospital General de Mexicali. As Sharp Chula Vista’s medical director of emergency services and colleagues focused on supporting their physician partners in Mexico,
our nursing team developed education and collaboration tools focused on oxygenation as it relates to respiratory support and hemodynamics, as well as manual pronation therapy. Our director of education, research and professional practice at the time assisted with the translation of education materials, and many other SCVMC ICU, ED and respiratory therapy team members traveled across the border to provide hands-on and side-by-side education and demonstration of course materials.
